A Rogue Element on the Chess Board: Talking to Michael Klare About Iran
The Bush Administration, according to Professor Michael Klare, views the world “as a giant chess board in which the United States seeks to be the dominant world power indefinitely,” something that has “been spelled out in a series of Pentagon reports over the years, and in speeches it’s sort of hinted at: this notion that the U.S. will remain the dominant power indefinitely. The Persian Gulf is a major piece of that global chess board.” Read More
Becoming Coke Free
Hampshire owns no Coke. While it’s true that we still sell Coke on campus, we no longer have any bonds in the Coca-Cola Company. Council couldn’t continue to fund the Gallery because the Student Activities Fund cannot be spent on off-campus non-student group activities. It was decided, however, that the Gallery should be given funding for the summer so they can start to find permanent funding elsewhere. It was stipulated that to receive the funding the Gallery had to provide an updated copy of their lease, a memo from the Business Office indicating appropriate oversight, a detailed budget, and the signed resolution that this would be the final funding from the Student Activities Fund.
